About Us

Cancer Remedy Assistance Bureau (CRAB) is a registered society with the objective to provide relief to the poor and deserving cancer patients.

The stated Aims and Objectives are:

  • To help poor cancer patients.
  • To provide common place for meeting and discussion for the protection of health of members.
  • To provide knowledge about cancer and its treatment.
  • To provide trained home nurses for deserving cancer patients.
  • To help poor cancer patients by providing food, shelter, transportation and distribution of cloth and medicines.
  • To give instruction for the prevention of cancer.
  • To generate funds by lawful means for the welfare of the cancer patients.
  • To organise for early detection of cancer.

The Bureau was taking up activities on a need based priority. Initially we were providing financial assistance to poor and unaffordable cancer patients coming to RCC Trivandrum from faraway places to meet part of their expenses while they have to stay at Trivandrum during their treatment period. When we found that the assistance provided is not sufficient, in April 2002 we have started a ‘CRAB care centre’ to provide free accommodation and food to the same category of patients. This was in a rented building and on an average 30 patients recommended by RCC were availing this facility.

So far we have assisted 8617 patients. Now we are glad to inform that we could purchase 10 cents of land near RCC and the construction of a 5700 sq. ft. building is in progress. We want to complete the construction at the earliest to restart the relief work. The cost of construction and furnishing will be around a crore and a half.

The whole project has to be managed by generous contribution from all who wish a speedy recovery of people w o are reduced to the distress of cancer by circumstances of misfortune. We appeal to all citizens to contribute liberallio this noble cause.
